Being a Dad takes a lot of skills, but you don’t have to be good at sports or even good at math. The only thing that you need to do is to try. That’s the one characteristic that you MUST have. But some of the other important ones are leadership, convictions and integrity. But ‘integrity without knowledge is weak and useless, and knowledge without integrity is dangerous and dreadful’. We teach our kids with our actions, not our words. With convictions, you teach your child that “this is what I believe in, and nothing will change that”. Trying to do what someone else is doing, even if it’s just to stay with them, may teach your child to follow and not lead. But maybe that’s the right thing to do…I guess. Without convictions you follow, or….when things get tough, you just quit, and move on. Damn, life just doesn’t play out like that. Your child will quit his job if it doesn’t go well, or quit his marriage. Burning the bridges now are fine, but it’s your child who may have to cross them, not you. Your actions mold the life of a child, and change that child. You don’t change a life by giving someone extra curricular instructions, you change a life by leading someone to Christ or by feeding the hungry, or…by acting with integrity. But…you can’t change a life until you change your own. If your only goal in life is to change someone else’s, you’ve already failed. It happens indirectly, and almost by accident. Feeling that you MUST do that in order to justify your own existance must be a terrible burden to carry. You cannot speak of living at the foot of the cross, when you walk on the steps of hell. Real integrity is doing the right thing, knowing that nobody’s going to know whether you did it or not.
The beginning of the end
It’s almost over. Not my rants, but the endless whinning from losers who didn’t hold up their end of the deal. Nice letters by the way. Cost me plenty for the fancy letterhead, but hey, whatever it takes.
Can’t stand a liar….
Maybe you’re misinformed, maybe you’re just a liar. But when I’m asked if “it’s true that you never paid them a dime?”, well, I have to respond. I mean I HAVE to. My parents and players worked to hard. But instead of telling the story, well you know, a picture is worth a thousand words. In this case, two pictures.
Winning!
Yep, you got it. We’re winning. We’ll be moving on, and doing our thing. But you and your’s will be sitting the hell at home, talking a big game. Take the damn caboose and just follow us. Did you like the pun? Caboose? Wonder who gets that? We were supposed to be ‘elite’, but filling the squad with mediocre players, we were anything but that. Sure, I lost two of the better ones, but they didn’t come to you, and they would have left anyway….they even said that they would. I won’t use the other blog to vent because the players will have to face those words, but not on this one. This is me, and my fucking words. Once I got away, I had qualified people saying “you willl be better off…”. Talked to someone at a your last college who said that you only lasted a month. Loser. That’s why I’m “WINNING”!
