Most likely fought for the Union. My reasoning for this is mainly conjecture. There are at least 2 soldiers named David Coffman in company F. out of Ohio, and both are Union. However, they are both unit 17, NOT unit 7. This could just be an error, but otherwise, strictly my assumptions.
